Dear Bobcats:

Hopefully by now everyone knows that we’re having a reunion in Newport, RI in October, over Columbus Day Weekend. We’re booked into the magnificent Viking Hotel. We’ve reserved a block of 75 rooms for Friday and Saturday of that weekend, and the Viking Hotel gave us a much-reduced price of $229 a night.  To date, though many more people have assured us that they are coming, only 37 rooms have been booked for a total of 65 people. The Viking understands that the economy is a factor for all of us, and this week the hotel has agreed to reduce our block of rooms without penalty.  However, they will do this only once.

In a few weeks, we must commit to a new number of rooms, and release the rest of the block back to the hotel for sale.  Once we agree on the new number, the reunion committee is responsible for meeting that number and must pay the hotel for any room that is not booked.  Conversely, anyone who wishes to book a room after all the rooms are accounted for, will no longer get the reduced rate. 

By June 1st we have to give the hotel our final count. So, if you are planning to attend the reunion, and have not already done so, now is the time to book your room.  After that date you will have to pay the higher room rate. Don’t forget that when you book a room, you don’t have to pay for it at that time. - your credit card is only used to hold the room until you check in.

WELCOME TO NEWPORT! IT’S TIME FOR FALL FOLIAGE, HAVE A LOBSTER, TOUR A MANSION, STROLL THE CLIFF WALK AND SEE OLD FRIENDS IN THE HOTEL WHERE JFK AND JACKIE HONEYMOONED. FINALLY, A LONDON CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL REUNION ON THE EAST COAST!

HOTEL RESERVATIONS
The reunion is at the magnificent Hotel Viking on Bellevue Avenue in Newport. Rated as one of the most beautiful hotels in the country, the Viking is within walking distance of most of what Newport has to offer. The reunion is over Columbus Day weekend, and room rates for Friday and Saturday nights are $229.00. The hotel is offering us a $199.00 rate for Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday for those who might want to extend their stay and spend more time in the Newport area. The room rate is based on a two-night stay and we ask that if you are planning to attend that you stay at least the nights of Oct. 5 and 6. Those are the dates we committed to when we signed the agreement with the hotel. You can make your reservation on-line at http://www.hotelviking.com/ or by calling 1-800-556-7126. Be sure to tell the reservation agent that you are with the London Central High School Reunion.

The hotel is also known for its full-service spa, SpaTerre.  If you are interested in any of the spa services, please make your reservations early, as space is limited. Information on the many services can be found on the website.

TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS
The closest airport is Providence, Rhode Island.  Once here, there’s no need for a car – Cozy Cab leaves the airport bound for Newport every two hours, and is only $25.  Make sure to make reservations before arriving at (800) 846-1502.


REUNION FEE
The registration fee this year is $160.00 per person. This includes: Reunion Operating Costs, Hospitality Suite, Friday Night Reception and Supper, and Saturday Night Buffet Dinner and Dance.

The deadline for Registration is August 1, 20012. After that date, the fee will increase to $200.00 per person.
